Did you know that the FBI had to alter the definition of rape to include sexual assault committed against a male? And they just got around to fixing that loophole this year. That’s right, until a couple of weeks ago, only women could technically be raped.

Men also experience sexism. Should you choose to ignore that, you’re no more of an equal rights advocate than the people who opposed women’s suffrage a century ago.

Let’s strive for legitimate equality, not payback.

OH MY FUCKING GOD WHAT IS THIS

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS THIS ‘BATTERED WOMAN/FEMALE RAPE/SEXUAL ASSAULT PRIVILEGE’ PHENOMENON?! We comprise the majority of victims, and that somehow gives us a privilege?!

Sexual violence against any gender is absolutely deplorable. There’s this myth that feminists are somehow out to illegitimatize the seriousness of sexual violence against men, and that is so not the case. Never has been, not even close. But the fact of the matter is we live in a society that judges the legitimacy of a woman’s rape based on what she was wearing, what she was drinking, how she knew the guy, how she resisted, whether there’s physical or DNA evidence etc. And unless the attack passes society’s criteria for all the mentioned categories, it wasn’t rape and she has no case.

Some privilege. I want my money back.

“There’s this myth that feminists are somehow out to illegitimatize the seriousness of sexual violence against men, and that is so not the case.”

Says the feminist, after she states that the majority of victims are women, when they clearly aren’t. (That’s a link for each word, by the way)

No one said it’s privilege to be a rape victim. It’s privilege to be believed, it’s privilege to be able to cry rape without the slightest bit of evidence. Yes, rape is horrible, but the fact that women don’t even need evidence when accusing men of it, the fact that the side of male rape is completely ignored in society and in court systems across the globe, largely unpunished, and that some men are forced to father the children that result from their rape is pretty fucking horrible, and yes we do have privilege to not have to deal with overall disbelief or the belief that it never happens to us, like men do.

I don’t completely agree with how the court system deals with the rape of women, and it definitely needs to be reformed, but at least it’s fucking acknowledged in the first place.

Lastly, contrary to popular belief, this blog doesn’t blame feminists for everything. This was posted to make the point that patriarchal society ignores men’s issues and that feminists should realize that they do have certain privileges over men. It was not meant to say that it’s solely feminism’s fault, though it really doesn’t do much to help anything at all but continue to make women look like the sole or main victim at all times, making men the sole or main oppressor at all times.
